Met Junior

Cottekill's Ethan DeForest and Highland Mills' Ryan Rodriguez advanced to the round of 16, winning two matches at Fairview Country Club in Greenwich, Conn.

DeForest, who will be a Rondout Valley senior, defeated Zach Egermeyer of Glen Rock, N.J., 3 and 2 in the round of 32. He beat Chris Lambrou of Baldwin 4 and 3 in the first round.

Rodriguez, who will be a Cornwall sophomore, beat Katonah's Christian Cavaliere 1 up in the round of 32. He edged Great Neck's Ross Hoffman on the 19th hole in the first round.

Three local golfers were eliminated in the first round.

New Paltz's Sean Copeland was defeated by Cameron Young, the 2012 Ike champion and top seed, 7 and 5.

Warwick's Sean Ginley lost to Paolo Matti of Union, N.J., 8 and 6.

Drew Billard, a 2013 Sullivan West graduate, was defeated by No. 9 seed Ryan Rose of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., 3 and 1.
