Associated Press Sports

updated 9:58 p.m. ET Aug. 1, 2012

TORONTO (AP) -Reggie Lambe of Bermuda scored twice to help Toronto down El Salvador's Aguila 5-1 on Wednesday in the Group One opener of the CONCACAF Champions League.

Luis Silva, Terry Dunfield and Ryan Johnson also scored for Toronto in front of a crowd of 5,324.

After missing a connecting flight and spending the night in Miami, Aguila didn't arrive in Toronto until a few hours before kickoff.

Mexico's Santos Laguna also is in the group. The top team in the group will advance to the quarterfinals.

Kellie Martin On Kids, Pets and Responsibility | Famecrawler

76681PCN EarthDay14 199x300 Kellie Martin: Pets Help Teach My Child About Responsibility!

Kellie Martin says pets and kids are a perfect combination.

My two kids have been asking for a pet lately. Sometimes it?s a dog, sometimes a cat, sometimes both. But much as I love animals ? our dear departed kitty was the best fuzzy friend in the world ? I?ve been resisting. It?s been nice spending the last few years without having to clean up anyone?s poop. And the children have to be nagged just to clear their dishes off the table ? would they be any different about caring for a living creature?

Kellie Martin would say yes!

The Army Wives and ER star has a blog on Parenting?s website this week about children and pets. In her view, introducing an animal to a child at a young age encourages not only a love of pets, but also gives them a head start on responsibility.

She had her first dog at age five. ?Curly Joe taught me a ton about life,? she writes. ?He was my little charge. I had to feed him, make sure he went out to do his business, and, of course, fill his stocking on Christmas Eve.? With her love and care, Curly Joe lived to the ripe old age of 18.

Now Kellie has a five-year-old of her own: daughter Maggie. And while they had a dog and cat long before the baby came into the picture, Maggie is already doing a lot to help care for the animal companions.

?The chocolate lab embraced her immediately (isn?t that what they do?), but the cat, not so much,? says Kellie. ?So, Maggie has worked hard to win her way into our cat?s heart. This includes (exclusively) feeding her and not petting her?at all.?

Maggie also has the responsibility of feeding the dog every day ? and to make sure the pets don?t get confused, she puts their individual pictures next to their bowls.

These little chores have set the stage for a lifetime of responsibility and caring. ?She is learning to be responsible for someone other than herself and is inadvertently learning about empathy. We?ve now moved on to having Maggie help wash and brush the dog. What?s next, washing the cat? Probably not.?

Maybe it?s time for a trip to the animal shelter after all?

What do you think? How old were your children when they started caring for the family pets?

Stock Investing: Getting Started | Finance information

When starting to invest in online trading there are many different aspects you must look into. I am here to explain different aspects along with a few tips I have learned over the years

Investing. On investment is defined as an item of value purchased for income or capital appreciation. In reference to stocks, traders who label themselves ?investors? usually play from the Big Board stocks (which we will discuss later) and choose their investments based upon cold hard facts, fundamentals, and the overall quality of the company behind the stock. ? / p> day trading or swing trading: Especially online, people will throw around the terms daytrading, swing trading, and flipping a stock. In essence, they are all similar and overlapping styles of trading. Daytrading is when you buy an sell a stock within the same day once, twice, or many times (intra-day trading). Swing trading is usually looking for a movement within the month of purchase. Flipping a stock is a style of trading built by targets set by looking at past performance. Flipping a stock is done by buying any given stock at its bottom support levels and selling at its resistance. All of these methods are short-term trading styles. They are influenced by what is going on right now, not what / where this company is going in the future. These indicators of market movement ATM (at the moment) include Technical Analysis, Press Releases, Stock Momentum (public sentiment) and general trends in different sectors

trading on margin. Many investors are timid when opening a margin account. However, opening a margin account is the only way to avoid the ?3-day? rule. When you open a margin account, you no longer have to wait three days for you funds to settle after a stock purchase / sale. Most online brokers require a $ 2,000 balance to open a margin account. If you are able to open one then you have the ability to purchase more stock than a normal cash account would actually allow. With $ 2000 in cash, you would have the ability to purchase $ 4,000 in stock. However, use caution, because if your purchase goes into the red, you loss also doubles

Shorting a Stock: Shorting a stock is another perk of opening a margin account. When you short a stock, you are actually selling something that you do not have. Usually this is done with the intention that a stock will decrease in price (for a various number of reasons). When it decreases in price enough to make you a profit, then you purchase that stock back (called covering your short position). Basically it is trading, only backwards. This ability gives you a method of making money by catching stocks in a downward (bearish) movement as opposed to looking for stocks on the rise (bullish stocks).

FYI ? You can not short OTCBB, Pink Sheet , or any other stocks under $ 5.00

Risk Tolerance. If you were to hire a ?big shot? broker or financial analyst than they would discuss your risk tolerance, and probably do it very extensively. I will address it shortly however, because I believe it is an essential question you must answer before you begin trading, however the answer is very simple.

First, figure out how much you can start to trade with. Learn $ 500 will not open you an account to help you, but will not offer much return. Others may recommend different amounts, but I believe that $ 1500 ? $ 2500 is a decent amount to begin with if possible. This way, you can play approximately 3 stocks at once and erase a red play with two green ones. Second, never invest (especially in pennies) what you can not afford to lose. When you begin, it is a learning experience. Do not think of getting rich quick. The more you know, the safer your money will be. Protecting you initial capital comes first. It is better to not take a loss than to not take a gain. Pennies are not your kid?s college fund. Trusts and Mutual Funds handle that type of low-risk, slow growth. Finally, when it comes to risk (sorry for the cliche) Knowledge is Power. The more you know, the safer your money is. Play safe, play smart. Make the smart trade

$ $ $ Practice, Predict, Profit $ $ $

Opening an account. The next step is opening an account at. By addressing all of the above issues, it will make your decision about a broker much easier. Knowing how often you plan to trade, what your average trade size will be, and various other aspects of your trading style / interests deterministic mine wants the broker which best suits you. The next post will layout the key points / attributes, pros cons /, and customer service experiences with the most popular, affordable, and reliable online brokers.

    Ethiopian or Egyptian Team

The history of the Abyssinian Cat is confused; is it from Ethiopia or Egypt? Is it just a hybrid of a bunch of English cats? No one really knows.

But the Abyssian is well known for its energy and ability to jump, so clearly in the Olympics, this kitty would be a high jumper.

In Amharic (the most common language in Ethiopia) cats are called "demate". In Arabic, cats are "Qit."

This stately cat nearly died out during WWII, leaving just one breeding pair. Eventually the line was restored, and the Birman is THE cat in France.

In France, cats are "chat" and say, "Miaou."

As loyal friends that are less active than other cats, clearly the Birman is a skeet shooter.

This cat (who is named DROID, which is adorable) is very popular in Russia (and is frequently tattooed, alas).

In Russian, cats are "Koshka" and say, "Myau."

DreamWorks Animation 2Q Earnings: Profit, Revenues Drop | The ...

DreamWorks Animation quarterly results missed analysts' estimates as sales fell sharply, sending its shares down 8 percent in after-market trading on Tuesday.

Analysts were expecting earnings of 25 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters.

Revenue fell 25 percent to $162.8 million, below analysts' expectations of $186.2 million.

DreamWorks' most recent movie, "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted," contributed about $54.8 million to its quarterly revenue.

"Puss In Boots" brought in $22.8 million, driven primarily by home entertainment, while "Kung Fu Panda 2" accounted for $46.4 million, backed mainly by U.S. domestic pay television.

DreamWorks shares were down $1.60 at $17.60 in after-market trading. They had closed at $19.20 on the Nasdaq on Tuesday.

CurrentWare AccessPatrol

CurrentWare's AccessPatrol allows organizations to secure company endpoints from removable media, including USB devices, CDs, and DVDs, as well as BlueTooth, Wi-Fi, Firewire, and other portable devices. By restricting what removable media can run on vulnerable machines, businesses can prevent sensitive data from being copied and walked out of the company. With AccessPatrol, businesses can prevent data theft and reduce infections by closing off vulnerable entry points. If the computer can't be infected with infected media, the organization's network can't be compromised with malware.

AccessPatrol is actually just one component in CurrentWare's suite of security products. BrowseControl offers Internet blocking and filtering, BrowseReporter offers Internet monitoring and reporting, AccessPatrol offers endpoint device security, and enPowerManger offers power management. All the products are available separately or as part of the CurrentWare suite.

Pricing for AccessPatrol is based on a per-computer basis, starting at $79 dollars for a single user. Since many users have multiple computers, CurrentWare bundles additional computers into the license as a "pack," with a five-computer pack beginning at $199 and going up to a 50-computer pack for $999. For larger organizations, volume pricing is available, going as low as $20 per computer for less than 100 licenses, or $9 per computer for more than 2,000 licenses.

Setting up the Console
Setup is very fiddly, as there are four pieces of software to install to get up and running. There is a good reason for this, as all CurrentWare products plug into the same server and console. By setting up the server and console components on one machine, the business can add on other CurrentWare components easily at a later date. But for just one product, the process feels a bit too complicated.

I installed the CurrentWare Server and Console on the same Windows 7 machine. It is possible to run them on separate machines, but I found it just as easy to put them on the same test box and CurrentWare's documentation didn't really make a strong case for why I shouldn't do so. The server is about 18MB and the console is about 3655 KB, so all in all, the software is fairly lightweight. During installation, I was prompted to enter the machine's name or the IP address. I used the machine name in case the IP address of the machine ever changed.

CurrentWare also uses open source SQL database Firefird for its internal data storage, which is installed automatically. However, if you have another program using Firebird, CurrentWare won't install.

CurrentWare works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Windows operating system. However, the company said it hadn't been tested on Home editions, although Professional and Enterprise versions were supported. I tested on Windows 7 Home and had no trouble. I was disappointed that Macs weren't supported.

I tried directly opening the server, and was told I didn't have enough permissions. The Console connects to the Server and retrieves all relevant data, so there was no need for me to try to launch the server directly.

When I started up CurrentWare Console, I was immediately prompted to install one of the products, AccessPatrol, BrowseControl , BrowseReporter and enPowerManger. I still had to download the installer for each component separately. I would have preferred CurrentWare to be able to go ahead and grab the updated software as soon as I initiated the request in the console.

After installing AccessPatrol and restarting the Console, I could see a products panel on the right side of the screen. While all the other products were listed, AccessPatrol was the only one that offered any menu options. All the other products were grayed out.

The console then prompted me to use the remote install feature. The feature lets administrators select all the computers on the network visible by the server to install the client software remotely. I could also just install the tool manually on each client machine. The remote installer is really handy only if there are many computers requiring AccessPatrol and related products, or if the computers are physically not easy to reach.

I tried installing first remotely, and then later manually, and found the process fairly simple either way. With the manual process, I just had to make sure I used the correct server name for CurrentWare server.

With the remote feature I could change the default client password, reboot the machine, and force the software to upgrade to the latest version. I could manually enter the IP addresses of the machines to push the client software on to, or import a text file containing the information. I could also have the console search to find available devices on the network.

The Console automatically detected when the client software had been installed, and listed that machine in the list of computers being controlled.

The enclosed quickstart guide is also very good about laying out the steps. In fact, the help system in the Console was excellent, prompting with the next step at appropriate moments.
